Historic construction

Hemsterhuis Bridge The Hague; Bridge between 1885 and today

Restoring the monumental Hemsterhuis Bridge – a national monument dating from 1885 – to its original glory was a significant challenge. A challenge we took up in close cooperation with the local government, business client and various partners.

Using the original parts and implementing the authentic riveting technology, the main girders and handrail railings, among other things, were restored.

In addition, the original turning mechanism was made working again and the cast steel spider was replaced with a replica, which we had manufactured in Spain.
